We teach challenging, flowing group reformer classes. Our classes are considered contemporary Pilates, while being rooted in the founding principals of Pilates. Our classes are more athletic in nature, but are suitable for all levels. Our instructors always give options for modifications & advancements.
However, please note Our group classes are designed under the assumption that our students are healthy with minimal injuries or limitations. If you have a significant injury, are pregnant/postpartum or have recently undergone surgery please contact the studio prior to taking your first class so we can evaluate if group classes are the best option for you at this time. The safety of our students is of upmost importance to us & we are more than happy to discuss any issues or questions you might have prior to signing up for a class.

The original reformer was created by Joseph Pilates in 1946. Although it has changed a little bit since then, it still remains one of the main pieces of equipment used in the Pilates Method today.
The reformer consists of a metal or wood frame, with springs used to increase or decrease resistance. A footbar sits on the end of the machine. A padded platform or “carriage” sits on the inner frame tracks & is equipped with wheels so that it can glide forward & backward easily. Long straps equipped with hand & foot loops are attached to the opposite end of the machine.
Reformer exercises use spring resistance to elongate muscles & strengthen the entire body, challenging balance & increasing the range of motion in the joints.

In studio we use the Balanced Body Allegro 2 Reformers. These reformers stay true to the original design but with a sleek modern twist!

Did you know that Pilates reformer sessions used to be available only as a private session? It’s only more recently that reformer based group class studios began popping up!
If you're new to Pilates, or new to using the reformer, we highly recommended you schedule a private with one of our instructors to become familiar with the basic principles of Pilates and the equipment.
Private sessions are a great opportunity to learn about your body & ask questions. You have a highly trained instructors’ eyes on you for an hour & that is so beneficial for anyone (even if you’re a Pilates pro). An instructor can see things that you can’t, such as incorrect alignment or improper muscle firing. Because it’s one-on-one, they can ask you questions like “where are you feeling this?” “Do you notice what happens when you lift your heel more?” etc.. T
hese sessions really empower you to enter group classes with a baseline knowledge of the inner workings of your own body. As far as the number of private sessions, that is completely dependent on your goals, preferences & budget. You can always discuss this further with your instructor.

If you choose to head right into a class, please start with our Reformer: FORM class. This class is taught at a slower, flowing pace, and is appropriate for most all levels. If you are new to the reformer, please come a few minutes early to familiarize yourself with the teacher & reformer. If you have any injuries or limitations please let our instructors know prior to beginning the class We are able to modify most exercises to meet your needs, but just let us know.

If you've taken reformer classes before, you can choose our Reformer: FLOW class. Our instructors give many different spring & prop options to meet a variety of different levels. This class is more athletic in nature, as you will be flowing around the reformer from one exercise to the next. This class frequently involves planks & standing work on the reformer. If you have a significant amount of injuries or are unsure about this class, feel free to reach out to us & we can help evaluate if this is the right class for you.
PLEASE NOTE: At this studio the SAFETY of our students & the flow of the class is a top priority! Therefore our instructors reserve the right to request that a student not take a Flow class if we feel that it is unsafe or it becomes a significant distraction to the of the flow of the class. With small group classes we want to make sure each student feels they are valued by getting an equal amount of attention & adjustments. Please trust that we know our stuff! Together we have years of combined experience & 100’s of hours training in Pilates anatomy, proper alignment & functional body movement. We will get you where you want to go but each student will progress at a different pace & you need to be in the right class for YOU.

If a class is full you have the option to place yourself on the waitlist. Please note if you place yourself on a waitlist it is your responsibility to see if you made it into class. Please ensure you are set up to receive text &/or email notifications in your app.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The system will automatically place you from the waitlist into the class if a spot becomes available 8 hrs. prior to the scheduled class start time. You will be responsible for the class even if you are unaware. Please remove yourself from the waitlist if you know you can no longer attend the class. If someone cancels less than 8 hrs prior to the scheduled class start you will not automatically be place in the class. If you see an opening please remove yourself from the waitlist & book into class.
For example: a class starts at 8 am on Tuesday. If you are on the waitlist & another student cancels at 10 pm Monday night you will automatically be placed into the class from the waitlist ( person cancelled 10 hrs prior to the start of the class). However, using the same example, if the person cancelled at 5 am on Tues morning, you would NOT be placed into the class & remain on the waitlist, but you would see 1 open spot in the class. This is because the person only cancelled 3 hrs prior to the class start & will lose their class due to late cancellation. That’s why it’s important to check the schedule for availability last minute because cancellations always occur.
-
CLASSES:
Canceling less than 8 hours prior to your scheduled class start time is considered a ‘Late Cancel’. If you Late Cancel, or if you 'No Show' your class will be deducted from your package. Please be respectful of others who might be on the waitlist & cancel early if you are unable to attend. We do not currently charge a fee for late cancels /no shows.
PRIVATES:
Please note if you are cancelling a private session we require 24 hr. notice to avoid losing the session. Please contact your private instructor directly to cancel.

We allow minors 16 years & older to attend classes only when a parent is taking the class with them. If you are bringing your minor please take the FORM class first before booking a flow class. This is for the safety of your child as well as for preserving the flow of the class. If you have questions about bringing your child to class please contact the studio.

If you are interested in sharing your class package with someone please insure your person has an account. Once they have an active account created in Mind Body contact the studio & we will link the accounts together. Please note that only class packages may be shared, not memberships.

If you have been taking classes at Studio Reform Pilates PRIOR to becoming pregnant you can continue to do so as long as you feel comfortable and have been cleared by your doctor. Please let your instructor know so that we can put a note on your account and so your instructor knows to provide modifications for you throughout your class. It is out of an abundance of caution that we do not allow new clients who are pregnant to take classes at our studio.
If you are pregnant and have never taken a class at Studio Reform Pilates prior to becoming pregnant, we ask that you wait to take your first class until you are no longer pregnant. Doctors advise that you do not begin a new workout while pregnant and the health & safety of you & your baby is the most important thing. If you feel more comfortable scheduling privates during this time please let us know & we will be happy to work with you.

We honor a 5 min grace period at our studio. Meaning we will admit you up to 5 min past the scheduled start time of class. We understand things come up, but unfortunately we will not admit you to class if you are more than 5 minutes late. This is for a variety of reasons. It is a huge distraction to the flow of the class in progress and the teacher will be well into the routine. Your safety is very important to us & arriving after the class in in process just isn’t safe for you or fair to the rest of the class. We reserve the right to give your spot to a standby student if you are more than 5 minutes late.
-
You are always welcome to show up to the studio & try to get into class. However, please have an account created in Mindbody before coming. Please note that we only have 7 reformers so classes fill very quickly! We do admit standby students if there are late cancellations
